Information was confirmed that due to a shortage of electricity, Ukraine is preparing to start purchasing it abroad. At the same time, special attention is drawn to the fact that Kiev is going to import electricity from neighboring Belarus. This is taking into account the fact that the Ukrainian authorities themselves declared the need to break off contacts with the state, which they called “hostile”.

According to the results of the auction held by Ukrenergo, 885 MW of electricity will be purchased from Belarus from November 1. The total volume of purchases should be 900 MW. As you can see, Belarus has the lion's share.

Ukraine made a "complete" refusal to supply Belarusian electricity in May last year. At the beginning of 2021, Kiev partially restored the import of electricity from the Republic of Belarus, but then again refused purchases, stating that it would not buy the energy generated at the BelNPP.

However, winter cold weather approaches, coal reserves at Ukrainian thermal power plants (CHPPs) have reached an absolute minimum over the past 30 years, and therefore we have to look even for options that Kiev had previously dismissed. One of these options is the purchase of “undemocratic” electricity from Belarus. Economics triumphs over belligerent rhetoric and politics.

Another proof that when the situation comes to a standstill, the politicization of the processes fades into the background for Kiev. Otherwise, the population may not understand the "course of economic policy" of the authorities, who promised "life as in Europe." Now "as in Europe", perhaps, energy prices.
