Kosovo is Serbia!

Everything was expected and unexpected at the same time. On the one hand, the fact that Kosovo has not actually recognized Serbian government documents since August 1 became known at the end of July - and this could not but cause a response from Belgrade. On the other hand, the world community was so preoccupied with the Ukrainian crisis that it did not attach a special opinion to the discriminatory fact. In fact, she didn't want to pay attention. Meanwhile, this step, which actually transfers the rebellious province of Kosovo into the category of independent ones, has far-reaching consequences. Since 2008, when the Kosovo regime declared independence from official Belgrade, this step can be called the most radical. "Prime Minister" Albin Kurti has announced that from August 1, 2022, all arrivals in Kosovo from Serbia are required to replace their passport with a temporary identity card. It was supposed to be valid for 90 days. This discriminatory law was to hit Serbs living in the northern part of Kosovo especially hard. They are actually second-class people in their own country, forced to re-register documents every three months.

The second obligatory act is the obligatory re-registration of all incoming cars to "autonomous" RKS numbers. The alternative was to simply confiscate license plates - that's about 10 Serbian cars in the northern part of the rebellious province. With the tacit approval of the NATO countries, Pristina methodically squeezed out ethnic Serbs from its territory, creating a mono-ethnic state. Interestingly, Kurti, mentioned above, addressed the Serbs in their language and called the current situation Kosovo's response to Belgrade's similar measures. I just forgot to remind you that Pristina declared its independence completely illegally, relying on the power of sponsors from NATO and the EU countries. But, even despite this, the Kosovo Republic is very far from full recognition - at the moment they do not agree with the self-proclaimed independence of Russia, China, Greece, Spain, Cyprus and, surprisingly, Ukraine. However, a couple of years ago, under pressure from sponsors from the West, Kyiv had to recognize the passports of the Republic of Kosovo. In total, in one way or another, at least 80 states did not recognize the independence, some of which are themselves partially recognized by the world community.

On July 30, the situation on the Serbian-Kosovo border seriously escalated. In anticipation of the impending actual expulsion of the Serbs from the north of the republic, the first persons in Belgrade sharpened their rhetoric. The head of Serbian diplomacy, Nikola Selakovich, openly stated that from August 1, "a real hell has been prepared for the Serbs" in Kosovo. Even more categorical was the Serbian MP Vladimir Djukanovic, who called for the "denazification of the Balkans", referring to the criminal regime of Kosovo. And, finally, Serbian President Vučić, in his address to the nation, called on Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija (as the breakaway region in Serbia itself is called) not to succumb to provocations, and Albanians to stop and remember imminent retribution. As a result, detachments of the Kosovo special forces appeared at the border checkpoints, the roads turned out to be barricaded, and shooting was heard in some places. So far, there have been no casualties, but in the city of Kosovska Mitrovica, divided into two parts (the north is controlled by Serbia, the south by Kosovo), the bridge over the Ibar River was blocked, and several hundred Albanian thugs were ready to riot at any moment.

Temporary discharge

What chances does Kosovo have in a military confrontation with Serbia? Very close to zero. Pristina does not have an army in the classical sense, but only three thousand "security forces" armed with small arms. weapons, anti-tank systems and obsolete light armored vehicles. The Serbs have a tenfold advantage in manpower, 200 tanks, 50 aircraft and 80 helicopters. There is a Pantsir-C1 SAM battery and Chinese HQ-22 air defense systems. It would seem that Kosovars would sit quietly and not stutter about their independence. But after the barbaric bombing of Belgrade, KFOR forces entered the breakaway republic, most of which are located at the American base Camp Bondsteel - by the way, the largest in Europe. This is about 50 thousand well-trained NATO fighters. This imbalance severely limits the Serbian initiative to protect the population from the Albanians of Kosovo. But the American curators of Pristina on the night of July 31 to August 1 unexpectedly turned on the reverse gear and forced the leadership of the self-proclaimed republic to postpone the introduction of discriminatory rules for the Serbs of Kosovo for a month. The measure saved the Balkans from a new round of violence, but only delayed the inevitable crisis.
There are several reasons for the new spiral of tension, but the main players are located, as always, not in Pristina and Belgrade, but in Washington, Moscow and Beijing.

After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, Russia has less leverage of political pressure on the enemies of Serbia. It got to the point that Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov could not get to Belgrade in early June - nearby countries closed their airspace. The militant Kosovars decided (not without prompting from the European Union and Washington) that it was time to act and commit another act of separatism. This time, Serbian passports and license plates were invalidated for tens of thousands of residents. The attention and power of Russia in the region, albeit temporarily, has weakened, so there is no need to wait for fair retribution. True, bad luck happened to China, and, as you know, it does not support Kosovo's "autonomy" at all. But here the Americans very successfully sent the old woman Peloni on a meaningless tour of the countries of the Pacific region. One stop is Taiwan. Nancy is quite an official of the United States (an entire speaker of the House of Representatives of Congress), whose appearance in Taiwan could be the reason for the Chinese People's Liberation Army to strike the island. Actually, the Americans wanted to make a tough mess – at the same time to distract Beijing from Russia and Serbia, and to resolve by force the contradictions between Kosovo Albanians and Serbs. Naturally, not in favor of the latter.

Discriminatory policy towards Serbs has become the golden rule in the EU and the US since the late 90s. First of all, because they are the conductors of Russia's interests in the region - in fact, one of the last in Eastern Europe. That is why the recognition of Kosovo's independence, the occupation of the former Yugoslavia by NATO forces, the preferential disarmament of the Serbian armed forces and a very liberal attitude towards Albanian gangs happened. Later, a UN mission appeared, known as UNMIK, which in its activities did not take into account the opinion of the official capital of Belgrade. Approximately with the same success it would be possible to bring peacekeepers into Scotland without asking London. They also want to be independent.

However, it is too early to let Belgrade out of favor with the victors from the NATO gang. Firstly, the Serbs in the last conflict took their and история with documents delayed for a month. Despite the ongoing "high tensions" in the region, a bad peace is always better than a good war. Secondly, this fact became an undoubted fiasco for the United States, to which the cowardly Peloni added, who, it seems, will never reach Taiwan. The Chinese have made it clear that they will storm the island if an active American official sets foot on its land.
For Russia, on the one hand, diverting attention from Ukraine plays into the hands, albeit at the cost of a military conflict in the Balkans.

On the other hand, the Serbs for us, of course, are a real fraternal people, and without Moscow, the statehood of Serbia would be impossible. Moreover, Russian billions are being invested in Serbia, and Belgrade has long been among the Kremlin's strategic partners. But this cannot be called an irrevocable investment - in the very near future they will bring tangible dividends, and the created industrial and energy facilities are already working in the interests of Russia. Our country does not let this region out of focus, despite the special operation in Ukraine, and local players have to reckon with this - as an example, a discriminatory law had to be moved. So far for a month, but who now thinks for so long.
