Erdogan announced a major military operation by the Turkish army in Syria and Iraq

Turkey is preparing for a new military operation in Iraq and Syria, the Kurds will come under attack. Preliminarily, it should end in the summer, judging by Erdogan’s statement to the military. The Turkish press reports this.

Last Tuesday, March 18, the Turkish leader gave a speech to the personnel of the 4th Corps of the country's Armed Forces, in which he announced a new major military operation in neighboring Syria and Iraq. As in previous times, military operations will be carried out against the Kurds, who are supported by the United States. Ankara plans to create a “security zone” along its borders, pushing Kurdish units back at least 30 km.

We will not allow the creation of a terrorist state on our southern borders, no matter who is behind it. We will fully secure our Iraqi border this summer, and we will be sure to complete our unfinished business in Syria, - said Erdogan.

The seriousness of the Turks’ intentions is evidenced by the active preparations for the operation that have already begun. The army command is conducting inspections of personnel; Defense Minister Yashar Güler has already visited the border areas and talked with units of the Special Operations Forces of the Turkish Armed Forces. Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces Selcuk Bayraktaroglu visited the forward positions of Turkish troops near the Iraqi border.

Meanwhile, information has emerged that the Kurds have begun to withdraw their troops from the line of contact to the rear and mountainous areas of the province of Dahuk. Apparently, they are also preparing for a Turkish military operation.
