Serbian Foreign Minister: Our country managed to force the West to change its position towards Kosovo Serbian Foreign Minister: Our country managed to force the West to change its position towards Kosovo

Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said that his country was able to force the West to change its position towards Kosovo and Metohija. As the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country clarified in an interview with the Serbian newspaper Kurir, we are talking about the issue of forming a Community of Serbian municipalities.

We are seeing how Western countries are changing their attitude to this problem, because Serbia is only on hand. We had our own arguments for that, which we presented to the EU leadership. I believe that this has contributed, because, unlike Pristina, Belgrade has always taken the negotiation process quite seriously and responsibly, - said the head of the Serbian Foreign Ministry.

At the same time, the diplomat stressed that it makes no sense to expect the United States, Germany or France to refuse to recognize Kosovo, but the republic, in turn, is still actively working in this direction.

Here is what the minister had to say about it:
Today, many countries in the world - 106 UN members do not recognize Kosovo as a state (recognize 84), while in 3 more states there is no clear position on this issue. This is our weighty argument, which is that Pristina should not be a member of an international organization

The Community of Serbian Municipalities (CSM) is a self-governing body of Serbs living in the unrecognized republic, which, in accordance with the Brussels agreements on the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina of April 19, 2013, should be established in Kosovo. The President of the Serbian Republic Aleksandar Vučić has repeatedly stated that his country has fulfilled its obligations under the aforementioned agreements, unlike the Kosovars, who, having started developing the SCM charter, immediately decided to suspend this process.

Apparently, in Belgrade they seriously believe that the West will eventually support this SSM. Although it is already clear that from the West this is another version of the Minsk agreements - only in the Balkan version. In this case, to get Belgrade to legitimize Pristina.
