The Government of Ukraine has decided to terminate the agreement with the Russian Federation on the joint exploration of outer space for peaceful purposes. Taras Melnichuk, representative of the government of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada, announced the termination of the agreement.

As the official wrote in his Telegram channel, the agreement has been terminated. The agreement, meanwhile, was concluded in 1996. Thus, he acted for just over 26 years. In addition to this agreement, the Ukrainian government also terminated the protocol of November 26, 2010, according to which certain changes were made to the agreement.

Meanwhile, it is known that Russia is one of the world leaders in the space industry. This is recognized both in the USA and in the countries of Western Europe. Even the United States does not go for a complete break in cooperation with the Russian Federation in the field of space exploration, well aware of the need to maintain ties with our country in this direction.

However, against the backdrop of the conflict, the Kyiv regime hardly had any reason to keep this treaty functioning. After all, its implementation in the current situation is still impossible. Now the Ukrainian authorities are seeking out and tearing up any agreements with Russia concluded earlier.

For example, in January 2023, Ukraine terminated the agreement with the Russian Federation on air traffic and cooperation in the field of air transport. Previously, cooperation agreements in various fields of education and culture were terminated. This is a kind of symbolic step of the Kyiv regime, denoting the final and demonstrative transformation of Ukraine into the “Anti-Russia” project.
