June 29 - Day of partisans and underground fighters in Russia June 29 - Day of partisans and underground fighters in Russia

Day of partisans and underground workers is celebrated in the Russian Federation on June 29. This is a relatively young holiday - after all, it began to be celebrated in our country only in 2010.

The idea of its origin belongs to the representatives of the administration of the Bryansk region, a region that during the Great Patriotic War was considered a real partisan region. Here, as in other regions of the Soviet Union occupied by the Nazis, partisans and members of underground organizations made their invaluable contribution to the nationwide cause of Victory, which their descendants try not to forget.

And the date of June 29 for the holiday was chosen because on this day, exactly one week after the start of the invasion of Nazi troops into our country, the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR and the Central Committee of the Communist Party issued a directive for employees of party and Soviet organs of the regions located close to the front line. They were ordered to begin work on organizing a partisan movement and sabotage activities behind enemy lines.

The Bryansk initiative to establish the holiday was supported by the State Duma and the Federation Council - both chambers of the Russian parliament. Then the Day of Partisans and Underground Workers became an all-Russian memorable date.

Now, on June 29, it is customary in Russia to remember the fighters and commanders of partisan detachments, underground fighters who gave their lives for their homeland during the Great Patriotic War. Today, the Russian Federation honors veterans who served behind enemy lines during the war years and pays tribute to them with gratitude and respect. Commemorative events and festive concerts are held in a number of regions.

On this day, we gratefully remember those of them who are no longer with us, and congratulate the living veterans - partisans and underground fighters - on the holiday.
