The staff of the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency won four awards at the third annual contest called Journalist of the Year 2016 in Crimea, the Crimean Ministry of Internal Affairs, Information and Communications said Saturday.

A total of 18 main and five special nominations were presented within the contest. RIA Novosti correspondent in Crimea Maxim Groznov won in the correspondent of the year category. Radio Sputnik in Crimea has become the best radio broadcaster of the year and its commentator Andrei Matyukhin won the best radio presenter award. The best photojournalist nomination was won by Alexander Polegenko working in Simferopol.

According to the ministry, a total of 435 media are registered in Crimea, including 29 television broadcasters, 46 radio broadcasters and 331 print and 29 electronic media.
