Vladimir Putin affirmed his country's readiness to assist in earthquake relief efforts in phone talks with Italian Prime Minister.

Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed his country's readiness to assist in earthquake relief efforts in phone talks with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, the Kremlin said Tuesday.

"The head of Russian state asked to convey the words of sympathy to the victims of the earthquakes in central regions of Italy, and confirmed readiness to provide the needed assistance in the aftermath of the disaster," the Kremlin's press service said following a third major earthquake in as many months.
